Thursday, June 17, 2010
GoAir is in the process of adding two A320-200 aircraft (180 seater) to its existing fleet of eight aircraft by August and September this year. With the increase in fleet size, the airline is planning to either add new destinations or enhance its operations on the current route network.

Talking to TravelBiz Monitor on strategies adopted by the company, Rakesh Tiwari, Vice President – Commercial Operations, GoAir said, “Our operations have improved substantially and we are expecting to further register improved PBT (Passenger Booking Total) in the current quarter (April – June). We are constantly undertaking steps like optimisation of revenue, reduction of cost, improving efficiency, increasing aircraft utilisation – renegotiating on various arrangements to ensure that we improve profitability on sustained basis. We operate to 15 destinations in India and with the additional aircraft we may add more destinations or increase frequencies to the existing routes depending on the market conditions.”

With legacy carriers offering discounts and tickets at cheaper rates, the gap between Full Service Carriers (FSCs) and Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) is decreasing. This is not only attracting business but also leisure travellers to opt for air travel. Opining on the same, Tiwari said, “We don’t believe in discounting our product. Instead we focus on enhancing customer experience by providing better services at all levels. In fact, GoAir is the only LCC to have Business Class configuration in the aircraft.”
